Top tips for planning your end of year function

As you can imagine, the festive season is one of our most busy, yet favourite times of the year. Some of our top tips to keep in mind when planning staff Christmas functions:

Venue

Events are nothing without the right venue. Be sure to pick the most suitable venue based on your budget, theme, and estimated number of guests. Also, ensure it is in a convenient location with easy access to transport.

Theme:

Whether subtle or OTT, the theme you choose can set the groundwork for the menu, decorations and styling, music and entertainment, and activities. Consider sticking to corporate branding if necessary.

Catering:

Food and drinks are a hugely important part of any Christmas affair. Depending on your event's location, theme and overall vibe, make sure your catering selections are made accordingly. For example:

  • Cocktail parties = canapes

  • Sit-down dinner = three course meal

  • Carnival = a variety of local food trucks/vendors

Also, be sure to consider any special dietary requirements and plenty of options

Activities:

Activities can be a great way to break the ice at any event. Some of our favourite event activities include amusement rides, competitions and crafts. If you are throwing a themed party, be sure to choose activities that represent your theme and if you are planning a family-friendly event, make sure there is something to keep the kids entertained!

Entertainment:

Whether you are hosting a sit-down dinner or Christmas carnival, it is important to keep your guests entertained. We always recommend securing an MC (check out our blog for our top tips) and live local music… and in the spirit of Christmas, we recommend giving Santa a call to see if he can drop by.

Party favours:

One of our favourite ways to ensure guests walk away from events with a little something special, is including a photo booth. They provide a fun activity for your guests and make for a great souvenir. Set up a festive backdrop, include a variety of props and let your guests do the rest!

Happy party planning these holidays!
