Celebrating inclusivity, beyond Pride month

As a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, we’re huge advocates for fostering an environment that goes beyond tokenism and genuinely supports and uplifts diverse voices. So, when planning your next event, you may want to consider how to go beyond surface-level representation.

Inclusion in events should extend beyond superficial representation to ensure authenticity. Companies can strive for true inclusivity by involving LGBTQIA+ individuals in the planning and decision-making process. These perspectives can contribute to crafting an inclusive program that resonates with the broader community.

  • When you provide platforms for LGBTQIA+ individuals to share their stories, expertise, and talents, you’re amplifying diverse voices. Consider featuring diverse speakers, performers, and panellists who can engage and inspire guests.

  • Partnering with LGBTQIA+ organisations will ensure your events align with the community's needs and aspirations. These collaborations can help foster authentic connections and create meaningful impact.

  • One crucial aspect of inclusive events is providing safe spaces and accessibility where all guests feel comfortable and respected. Consider implementing the following measures:

    • Gender-inclusive restrooms: Offer gender-neutral restrooms for individuals who may not conform to traditional gender norms. This small but impactful change promotes inclusivity and supports the dignity of all guests.

    • Pronoun awareness: Encourage guests to share their pronouns and respect individual preferences. Include pronoun options on registration forms, name badges, and event materials.

    • Accessibility considerations: Ensure your events are physically accessible for guests with disabilities. Provide ramps, accessible seating, and captioning services for deaf or hard-of-hearing participants. Accommodations like these demonstrate your commitment to inclusivity.

    • Engaging with LGBTQIA+ causes and charities beyond Pride month, demonstrates ongoing support. Consider volunteering at events, or sponsoring initiatives that support the community. This consistent dedication helps create a lasting impact and fosters long-term relationships.

Pride month is an opportunity to embrace and uplift the LGBTQIA+ community. At Wrapped, we emphasize the importance of genuine inclusivity within our own company, and within our client’s event programs, every day. By amplifying diverse voices, creating safe spaces, and engaging with LGBTQIA+ causes throughout the year, we can all express our commitment to inclusivity and make a positive difference.

Let's come together as a community to celebrate diversity, equality, and love, not just during Pride Month but every day of the year.

Wrapped in Pride. Always.
