NAIDOC Week, For Our Elders

As a proud Aboriginal-owned and operated company, Wrapped Creations takes great pride in its connection to the land and people of this country, and we pay our respect to the Elders we’ve lost and to those who continue fighting for us across all our Nations.

With the impending Voice Referendum, 2023 is a significant year for the reconciliation movement. NAIDOC Week in particular, is a time when the whole community can come together and proudly celebrate the vibrant cultures, achievements, and resilience of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

With the 2023 National NAIDOC Week theme of For Our Elders, Wrapped Creations is honouring our Kuruma and Yindjibarndi Elders, and all Elders near and far, for everything they have done in the past, for what they are doing now – and where they will guide us in the future. Their knowledge and wisdom paves the way for how we impart our own knowledge and experiences to others and our clients, and this inspires our immersive events, our team, and the way we show up in the communities we operate in.

To celebrate our Elders during NAIDOC Week, we’re incredibly proud to be a part of the team presenting some of the vast events and activities lined up for NAIDOC Week that will ignite your spirit and immerse you in the richness of our heritage – so, get involved!

  • Immerse yourself in Indigenous art

Discover the mesmerising artwork of talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists at various galleries, cultural centres, and museums across the city. From traditional paintings that depict our ancient stories, to contemporary installations that challenge societal norms, this vibrant art scene will leave you awe-inspired and deeply connected to our culture. (And don’t forget to bookmark the Colours of our Country Exhibition in October!)

  • Engage in interactive cultural workshops and demonstrations

Experience the beating heart of our Traditions by participating in hands-on cultural workshops and demonstrations. Take a journey through Aboriginal art, cuisine and craft, and be captivated by storytelling, language sharing, traditional dance and theatre performances.

  • Celebrate with community

Perth is brimming with vibrant community events that reflect our strength and unity. These events are not just a celebration of our culture but also an opportunity to support local Indigenous businesses and talents. Seek out local gatherings which feature and celebrate traditional smoking ceremonies, time with Elders, and yarning circles.

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate, honour, and embrace the richness of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. We invite you to join us in experiencing NAIDOC Week with energy, passion, and the undeniable spirit of our people.

Wrapped Creations has a strong reputation for delivering First Nation’s events across Western Australia and is thrilled to be delivering the National NAIDOC Week Awards Ceremony on Saturday 1 July. We look forward to sharing more of the celebration of the rich culture and achievements of Indigenous Australians.
